When looking for the right protein bar, make sure to stay away from imitation protein bars disguised as candy bars that are full of sugar or artificial sweeteners, low in protein, and high in calories. Make sure the first ingredient on the list is the protein source and not chocolate or sweetener. How do you tell? You can look at a comparison chart of nutritionals. We immediately rule out bars with more than 10g of sugar, otherwise you may as well eat a candy bar! Sugar is tied to obesity, diabetes and a number of different ailments.
